Project Brief

Designed 3 sets of website mockups to be used as custom themes for WordPress sites intended for veterinary clinics. The goal was to create visually appealing and functional designs that could be easily customized to reflect the unique branding and personality of each clinic. From initial research and wireframing to overseeing development and deployment, I led the entire process to successfully launch 32 websites to date, all in-house. Provided clinics with a professional online presence tailored to their specific requirements.

Key Roles

• Conducted extensive research into custom website builds, components, current trends in veterinary websites, market dynamics, and clinic requirements. Gathered insights to inform the design process and ensure alignment with industry best practices and clinic needs.
  

• Created wireframes and multiple sets of website mockups, including designs for homepages, about pages, services, new client forms, careers, resource, blogs, FAQs, contact pages, and more. Designed internal page layouts to be consistent across themes while allowing for customization of main homepage elements.
  
  
• Hired a freelance developer and managed the build process to ensure the successful implementation of custom designs. Provided clear guidance and feedback throughout development to ensure adherence to design specifications and timely delivery of the final product.
  
  
• Presented design options to veterinary practices, allowing them to select a base theme that best suited their needs and preferences. Customized themes to reflect each clinic’s unique brand identity and personality while maintaining consistency across internal page designs. Supported with domain and DNS transfers during launches.
  
  
• Trained the junior designer on theme editing and updating, guiding them through the website calls and processes until they were proficient enough to lead builds, launches, and ongoing clinic requests independently, effectively increasing our capacity and efficiency.
  

Challenges

Technical Complexity: Developing custom themes for WordPress sites involved navigating technical complexities, especially when integrating custom design elements and functionalities. Ensuring compatibility with WordPress updates, browsers, and responsiveness across various devices required close attention to detail and thorough testing.

Developer Coordination: Managing a freelance developer and coordinating the build process for multiple websites simultaneously presented logistical challenges. Ensuring clear communication, setting realistic timelines, and addressing any issues or delays promptly were essential to keeping the project on track and meeting deadlines.

Quality Assurance: Conducting thorough quality assurance testing to identify and address any bugs, errors, or design inconsistencies before website launch was essential to delivering a polished final product.
